Pregnancy is a very exciting phase for moms. For those who are experiencing it for the first time, navigating the journey can be difficult. There are a lot of questions in mind particularly about the things you can and cannot do.
While you can pretty much be your normal self when you are pregnant, you have to take things lightly because you are also nourishing the life growing inside of you. For complicated pregnancies, extra precaution is needed.
Wondering if it is ok to do house chores when you are pregnant? Don’t fret because there are still some activities that are safe to do. The 5 chores below, however, should completely be avoided.
1. Cleaning using products with chemicals.
Bleach and other chemicals commonly found in cleaning products may affect the development of the child in your womb.
2. Hanging curtains.
Climbing a stool or ladder is not recommended. So you should avoid during maternity since the extra weight makes your gravity off. This is avoided to prevent an accident that can cause harm to your baby.
3. Doing the laundry.
Heaving lifting is not allowed during pregnancy and aside from the fact that doing the laundry is an exhausting task, it requires you to carry heavy loads too. This can easily add pressure to your back which can be bad for your bones.
4. Mopping the floor.
Mopping the floor requires you to stand for an extended period. Standing too long can increase your risk of having high blood pressure and sometimes, edema or swollen feet.
5. Cleaning the litter box.
Cleaning the cat’s feces should be avoided at all costs during pregnancy. Sometimes, it can contain a harmful parasite that can cause toxoplasmosis, an infection that can cause brain damage and can seriously harm your baby.
